The Fungal Fruit Farm

We are a family operated, mushroom farm who specialise in seasonally grown culinary mushrooms.

To date, we have kept our market very local, in part because of the nature of Pleurotus ostreatus mushrooms, where shelf life is exchanged for flavour and dramatic colour! Have you ever noticed how the long shelf life of Agaricus bisporus species such as Button and portobello tend to be... bland at the best of times? Be warned, if you don’t think they are, you will do after sampling some of the other great indulgences which the Fungal Kingdom has on offer.

2020 is our year for ramping up production, and refining our methods. We are committed to investing in infrastructure this year to extend our growing seasons. Ideally, we hope to be in a position towards the end of the year, where the climate for growing our main crop of mushrooms, can be controlled and sustained through even the coldest of Highland winters! The goal is to be serving the Inverness-shire area, with consistency and quality this coming summer.

Keep an eye out for us!

Currently, as it is still too cold for cultivation, even our hardiest strains are having a hard time. Once we have moved toward the end of April, we hope to have back in stock a steady supply of Gray / Blue / Golden & Pink Oyster Mushrooms. Maybe even... The Pathfinder Oyster, if we are all so lucky.

Stay safe out their my fellow Mycophiles!
